Octahydro-2-methylpyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole Usage And Synthesis
Uses2-Methyloctahydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole is used as a reagent in the synthesis of novel aryl substituted urea derivatives which can exhibit antimicrobial activity against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. 2-Methyloctahydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole is also used in the preparation of 3-hydroxyquinazoline-2,4-dione antibacterial agents.
SynthesisOctahydro-2-methylpyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole was synthesised using tert-butyl 5-methylhexahydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-2(1H)-carboxylate as the starting material. The yield was 92%.
