N-(2-AMINOETHYL)METHANESULFONAMIDE

N-(2-Aminoethyl)methane sulfonamide hydrochloride was synthesized from tert-butyl {2-[(methylsulfonyl)amino]ethyl}carbamate (4.44 g) by the method of Example 17. The steps were as follows: the raw material was dissolved in a solvent mixture of ethyl acetate (40 mL) and THF (20 mL), and a 4M HCl-ethyl acetate solution (23 mL) was slowly added at room temperature. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 23 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the solvent was removed by concentration under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was washed with ethyl acetate to give the final N-(2-aminoethyl)methane sulfonamide hydrochloride (3.02 g, 93% yield) as white crystals. The product was characterized by 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) with chemical shifts of δ 2.90 (2H, t, J = 6.4 Hz), 2.96 (3H, s), 3.20 (2H, t, J = 6.2 Hz), 7.35 (1H, br.s.), 8.06 (3H, s).
