| | Dibasic ester Usage And Synthesis |
| Preparation | Using industrial byproducts mixed dicarboxylic acid (DBA) and methanol as raw materials, mixed diesters (DBE) were synthesized by catalysis with composite solid acid and PW12/SiO2, respectively. Comparison revealed that the synthesis conditions under both catalysts were: a methanol to DBA molar ratio of 3.5, a catalyst dosage of 2% of the DBA mass, a reaction time of 4 h, and a water-carrying agent dosage of 50 mL/100 g DBA. Under these conditions, the yields of DIBASIC ESTER under both catalysts were close to 85%, and the total mass fraction of the esters was above 98.6%. Furthermore, when both catalysts were reused five times, the yield of DIBASIC ESTER was greater than 70%. | | Chemical Properties | Dibasic ester is an ester of a dicarboxylic acid. Non-flammable, non-corrosive, and quickly biodegrading – all factors leading to an environmentally-friendly product. Easily soluble in alcohol and only slightly soluble in water, it is colorless, clear and has a slightly fruity odor. | | Uses | Dibasic ester was commonly used as lubricants, solvents, plasticizers, additives, and spin finishes. It acts as a coating agent for magnet and enamel wires, magnetic memory discs, automobiles, coils, cans, sheets, industrial paint, et cetera. | | Toxics Screening Level | The ITSL for Dibasic Esters(DBE) is 1 μg/m3 based on annual averaging time. |
