Synthesis

To a solution of 3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl dimethyl thiosulfate (1200 mg, 4.33 mmol) in methanol (15 mL) was added 10% aqueous NaOH (8 mL). The reaction was kept at 50 C and stirred for 4 h. TLC analysis showed total consumption of SM. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and pH was adjusted to 3. DCM (15 ml) was then added. The organic layer was evaporated to dryness to give 3-chloro-4-fluorobenzenethiol.
