(5-bromo-6-oxo-1-phenyl-pyridazin-4-yl)carbamoylformic acid Usage And Synthesis
DefinitionChEBI: Oxapyrazon is an organobromine compound.
Production MethodsThe industrial, step by step synthesis of oxapyrazon is not described in open literature. However, its production can be inferred from the chemistry of pyridazinone herbicides. The active ingredient would be manufactured by first constructing the pyridazinone ring system, typically through condensation of a suitably substituted hydrazine with a brominated diketone or equivalent precursor. This intermediate pyridazinone would then undergo amide formation with oxamic acid or an activated oxamate derivative to introduce the oxamic acid side chain characteristic of oxapyrazon.
Mechanism of actionSelective. Pyridazinone herbicides work by inhibiting photosystem II, a crucial component of the photosynthetic process in plants.
