| Synthesis | 6-(2-Fluorophenyl)nicotinic acid ester (479 mg, 1.75 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (12 mL) at 0 °C and trifluoroacetic acid (2.5 mL) was slowly added. After the reaction mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature, toluene (10 mL) was added, followed by concentration under reduced pressure to remove the solvent to give the white solid product 6-(2-fluorophenyl)nicotinic acid (375 mg, 98% yield). Analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC/MS), the molecular ion peak (M + H)+ was observed to be 218.0, which was consistent with the theoretical calculated value of 218.06. | | References | [1] Patent: US2008/146569, 2008, A1.
