| Synthesis | General procedure for the synthesis of 2,4,8-trichloroquinazoline from 8-chloroquinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione: (1041) To 8-chloroquinazoline-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (3.8 g, 19.33 mmol) was added 60 mL of phosphorus oxychloride (POCl3). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 16 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the excess phosphorous trichloride was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by column chromatography to afford 2,4,8-trichloroquinazoline (3.11 g, 76% yield). Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z = 233 [M + 1]. | | References | [1] Patent: US2016/168140, 2016, A1.
