Tricarbonyl(naphthalene)chromium Usage And Synthesis
UsesTricarbonyl(naphthalene)chromium is used as a catalyst for the hydrogenation of alkynes, 1,3-dienes, dienol acetates, and for the isomerization of conjugated dienes, silyloxymethyl- and aminomethylbutadiene.
PreparationTricarbonyl(naphthalene)chromium is prepared in 75-83% yield by treating naphthalene with Hexacarbonylchromium in dry decalin.[1]
storage Tricarbonyl(naphthalene)chromium should be handled under a nitrogen or argon atmosphere, and a glove box would be ideal. The solid should be stored at low temperature, in the dark, under nitrogen.
Purification MethodsPurification of Tricarbonyl(naphthalene)chromium: recrystallized under nitrogen from petroleum ether.
