DPX Usage And Synthesis
Description

P-Xylene-bis-pyridinium bromide is a cationic charged quencher that is commonly used in membrane fusion or permeability assays.

UsesD.P.X. has been used as a mounting medium for mounting:
  • rat brain sections for immunohistochemistry studies
  • mouse small intestine sections for morphometry studies
  • gastrointestinal tract sections of rats for immunohistochemistry

General DescriptionD.P.X is a mixture of distyrene (polystyrene), a plasticizer (tricresyl phosphate), and xylene. It facilitates the protection of stains and can dry quickly.
Biological ActivityCationic fluorescence quencher used with ANTS to study membrane permeability and liposome lysis.
