| Synthesis | The general procedure for the synthesis of 4-aminotetrahydrofuran-3-ol from 3,4-epoxytetrahydrofuran was as follows: 3,4-epoxytetrahydrofuran (0.3 g, 3.5 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of isopropanol (5 mL) and ammonium hydroxide (10 mL), and the reaction was stirred for 15 hours at 80 °C. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was quenched with water and subsequently extracted with ethyl acetate (EtOAc). The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 4-aminotetrahydrofuran-3-ol (0.36 g, 100% yield).
