In the first step, 9-fluorenone oxime (400 mg) was mixed with a solution of concentrated hydrochloric acid (0.86 mL) in ethanol (50 mL), 10% Pd/C catalyst (33 mg) was added, and the hydrogenation reaction was carried out at atmospheric pressure. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was filtered to remove the catalyst and the filtrate was concentrated. The concentrated residue was suspended in ethyl acetate and filtered again to give 9-aminofluorene hydrochloride (240 mg) as a white solid.
