| Synthesis | 
The reaction mixture consisting of 1-alkylcycloalkanol, Pb(OAc)4, and LiCl (total weight ~2g) was mechanically activated in a sealed steel reactor (volume ~80 cm⁻³) containing steel balls with a diameter of 12.3 mm and a total weight of ~150 g, using a vibratory mill with a frequency of 12 Hz and an amplitude of 11 mm. Mechanical activation was carried out for 4 hours. The reaction temperature was increased from 20 °C to 30–35 °C. After the process was completed, the reaction mixture (gray sintered solid) was removed from the reactor. The reaction mixture was washed with diethyl ether (2 x 30 mL) and chloroform (2 x mL) to extract the reaction product. The degree of conversion of the cycloalkanol and the amount of haloalkanone provided were determined by GLC using an internal standard. The degree of conversion of the oxidant was determined by iodometric titration. The organic layer was washed with 3% aqueous HCl and NaHCO3 solution. The organic layer was dried with Na2SO4.
