Benzoic acid, 4-[[[2-[(4,6-dimethoxy-2-pyrimidinyl)oxy]phenyl]methyl]amino]- Usage And Synthesis
ApplicationBenzoic acid, 4-[[[2-[(4,6-dimethoxy-2-pyrimidinyl)oxy]phenyl]methyl]amino]- is mainly used in rapeseed fields to control annual grasses and some broadleaf weeds, such as Alopecurus aequalis, Spartina alterniflora, and Stellaria media. After winter rapeseed transplanting and seedling establishment, a foliar spray of 600-750 L/hm² on Alopecurus aequalis at the 2-leaf-1-heart stage provides good control of Alopecurus aequalis, Alopecurus japonicus, Stellaria media, and Spartina alterniflora, but poor control of Vetch, Geranium wilfordii, Rhizophora stylosa, Gnaphalium affine, and Veronica persica. Propranolol's activity is relatively slow; weeds begin to show symptoms 10 days after application, and obvious phytotoxicity symptoms appear 20 days later. This herbicide is relatively safe for Brassica napus; at commercial application rates above 900 mL/hm³, it has a certain inhibitory effect on the early growth stage of rapeseed, but the growth quickly returns to normal, with no significant adverse effect on yield. Greenhouse trials showed that, within the dosage range of 375–4500 mL/hm², the safety profile for crop seedlings was as follows: cotton > rapeseed > wheat > soybean > corn > rice. 10% propargite EC was safe for rapeseed with more than four leaves. In fields with abundant broadleaf weeds, this herbicide needs to be mixed or used in combination with other broadleaf weed control herbicides to achieve good efficacy.
