| | 7-Chloroindole Usage And Synthesis |
| Chemical Properties | Beige-yellowish powder | | Uses | 7-Chloroindole may be used in the preparation of 1-methyl-7-chloroindole and glycosylated 7-chloroindole-3-acetamide. | | General Description | 7-Chloroindole is an indole derivative. It has been synthesized from 2,3-dihydroindole. | | Synthesis | 3-Chloro-2-nitrotoluene (2 mmol) was dissolved in 20 mL of acetonitrile and DMFDMA (480 mg, 4 ) was added.
DMFDMA (480 mg, 4 ) was added and refluxed at elevated temperature for 5 h. The reaction was monitored by TLC, cooled, concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was washed with water and a small amount of ethanol to give Intermediate 4. Intermediate 4 was added to 50 mL of 10% hydrazine in methanol.
Intermediate 4 was added into 50mL of 10% hydrazine in methanol solution, warmed to 50, and reacted for 8h, and the reaction was monitored by TLC .
The reaction was completed, cooled to room temperature, concentrated under reduced pressure and purified by column chromatography (petroleum ether:ethyl acetate 20:1) to obtain the target compound. The product data were as follows: white solid, yield 57%. |
