| Application | 2,7-Dibromo-9-(1-Octylnonyl)-9H-carbazole is a common bromocarbazole with many applications in materials, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. | | Synthesis | In a 100 mL two-necked round-bottomed flask, 5 mL of toluene, 1.0 g (12 mmol) of carbazole, 50 mL of 50% NaOH aqueous solution and 0.8 g of BTEAC were added dropwise to the reaction flask with 120 mmol of heptadecan-9-bromide under magnetic stirring at room temperature, and after the dropwise addition was completed, a spherical condenser tube was fitted and the reaction was refluxed for 2-3 h. The reaction was monitored using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) to track the reaction. Thin layer chromatography (TLC) was used to follow the reaction during the process. At the end of the reaction, the reaction mixture was poured into 100 mL of ice-water mixture and left to stand for 5 min, dichloromethane was added to the above aqueous solution to extract three times (3 50mL), and then the extract was washed with water to neutral, and the extract was collected by dispensing with a separatory funnel, and the dichloromethane was removed by rotary evaporator to obtain the crude product, which was separated and purified using column chromatography, with petroleum ether /Ethyl acetate=20/1 was used as eluent to obtain colorless needle-like 2,7-dibromo-9-(1-octylnonyl)-9H-carbazole in 83% yield. |
