2,5-Dichlorophenylthiourea Usage And Synthesis
Synthesis

Take 0.1 mol of 2,5-dichloroaniline, add 9 ml of HCl and 25 ml of water, and heat the solution in a round-bottom flask at about 60-70°C for about 1 hour. Cool the mixture for about 1 hour, and then slowly add 0.1 mol of ammonium thiocyanate to the solution. Now reflux the solution for about 4 hours. Add 20 ml of water to the solution while stirring constantly. Filter the solution and dry to obtain powdered 2,5-dichlorophenylthiourea.

Uses2,5-Dichlorophenylthiourea is a pharmaceutical intermediate that can be prepared in one step from 2,5-dichloroaniline. Literature reports that 2,5-dichlorophenylthiourea can be used to prepare the bactericidal compound N-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-4-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)thiazol-2-amine.
ApplicationZhang Mu et al. reported that 2,5-dichlorophenylthiourea can be used to prepare the following 2-aminothiazole derivative compound, 6hN-(2,5-dichlorophenyl)-4-(pyridin-2-yl)-5-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)thiazole-2-amine. 2-Aminothiazole derivatives not only possess excellent insecticidal, fungicidal, herbicidal, and plant growth-regulating activities, but also exhibit outstanding pharmacological activities. Due to their simple synthetic methods and diverse biological activities, they have attracted considerable attention from pesticide and pharmaceutical researchers.
