| | bencyclane Usage And Synthesis |
| Uses | Benzcyclane (Bencyclane; Benzcyclan) is a platelet aggregation inhibitor and a vasodilator effective in a variety of peripheral circulation disorders. | | Definition | ChEBI: Bencyclane is a member of benzenes. | | Brand name | Angiociclan;Angiodel;Bioarterol;Dantrium;Desoblit;Dilangio caposium;Dilapres;Fludilat (r)-dti;Fludilat amp 50 mg;Fludilat drag 100 mg;Fludilat dragee;Fludilat retard;Fludilat tropfen;Flussema;Fluxema;Halidor;Iloramina;Ludilat dti;Novo card-fludilat;Tardilat;Tensilence;Vasodarkey. | | World Health Organization (WHO) | Bencyclane, a vasodilator, was introduced in 1970 for the
treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders. In 1991, its use was
contraindicated by the German authorities in patients at risk of epilepsy following
reports of convulsions in patients under treatment. Bencyclane is widely registered
and the World Health Organization is not aware of restrictive action having been
taken elsewhere. | | in vivo | Benzcyclane, although capable of aggregating platelets by itself at very high concentrations, shows a striking inhibitory effect, over a wide range of concentrations, both on platelet aggregation induced by ADP, epinephrine or collagen and on platelet adhesiveness to glass or collagen. Clot retraction is also clearly inhibited[1]. Benzcyclane induces use-dependent inhibition of Na channels in muscle, similarly as do class 1 antiarrhytnmic drugs. Inhibition was observed with both normal and cevadine-modified Na channels[2]. | | References | [1] Ponari O, et al. In vitro effects of bencyclan on coagulation, fibrinolysis and platelet function.
