背景（Background）
白细胞介素-1β（IL-1β）也称为分解代谢素，是一种细胞因子蛋白，在人类中由IL1B基因编码。IL-1β前体被胱天蛋白酶1（白细胞介素1β转化酶）切割。胞浆巯基蛋白酶裂解产物形成成熟的IL-1β。
IL1β是结构相关的多肽，在人类中具有约21%的氨基酸（aa）同一性。这两种蛋白质都是由各种各样的细胞在炎症因子、感染或微生物内毒素的作用下产生的。虽然IL1α和IL1β是独立调节的，但它们与相同的受体结合并发挥相同的生物学作用。
IL-1β是白细胞介素1细胞因子家族的成员。这种细胞因子是由活化的巨噬细胞作为前蛋白产生的，前蛋白被胱天蛋白酶1（CASP1/ICE）蛋白水解加工成其活性形式。这种细胞因子是炎症反应的重要介质，参与多种细胞活动，包括细胞增殖、分化和凋亡。发现这种细胞因子在中枢神经系统（CNS）中诱导环氧化酶-2（PTGS2/COX2）会导致炎症性疼痛超敏反应。该基因和其他八个白细胞介素1家族基因在2号染色体上形成细胞因子基因簇。
