白细胞介素-1β（IL-1β，亦称分解素）是由IL1B基因编码的细胞因子蛋白，其前体经半胱天冬酶1（IL-1β转化酶）裂解后，再通过胞质巯基蛋白酶加工形成成熟活性形式。该细胞因子与IL-1α同属结构相关多肽（人类氨基酸序列同源性约21%），二者虽独立调控，但共享相同受体并发挥同等生物学效应。在炎症刺激、感染或微生物内毒素作用下，多种细胞均可产生IL-1β，其中活化巨噬细胞以前体蛋白形式合成该分子，经CASP1/ICE酶切激活。作为炎症反应关键介质，IL-1β参与调控细胞增殖、分化及凋亡，其在中枢神经系统诱导环氧合酶-2（PTGS2/COX2）的表达可介导炎症性痛觉过敏。该基因与白细胞介素1家族其他8个基因共同定位于染色体2，形成细胞因子基因簇。
