CD218a antibody targets the CD218a antigen, also known as interleukin-18 receptor alpha (IL-18Rα), a key component of the IL-18 receptor complex. IL-18 is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in innate and adaptive immunity, particularly in promoting Th1 cell responses and NK cell activity. The IL-18Rα subunit binds IL-18 with low affinity, requiring association with the β-chain (CD218b/IL-18Rβ) to form a high-affinity signaling receptor. CD218a is expressed on immune cells, including T cells, NK cells, macrophages, and dendritic cells, and its activation triggers downstream pathways like NF-κB and MAPK, driving inflammatory responses.
