The CDYL2 (Chromodomain Y-like 2) antibody is a tool used to detect the CDYL2 protein, a member of the chromodomain-containing protein family involved in epigenetic regulation. CDYL2 shares structural homology with CDYL1. including a chromodomain that binds methylated histones (e.g., H3K9me2/3) and a catalytic domain with enoyl-CoA hydratase activity. Functionally, CDYL2 acts as a transcriptional corepressor by recruiting histone-modifying enzymes, such as histone deacetylases (HDACs) and histone methyltransferases, to mediate chromatin condensation and gene silencing. It plays roles in spermatogenesis, neuronal development, and cellular differentiation. Dysregulation of CDYL2 has been linked to cancers, including germ cell tumors and prostate cancer, where it may influence oncogenic pathways or tumor suppression.

The CDYL2 antibody is widely used in techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and immunofluorescence (IF) to study protein expression, localization, and interactions in tissues or cell lines. Researchers employ it to explore CDYL2's involvement in epigenetic mechanisms, germ cell biology, and disease pathogenesis. Antibody validation typically includes testing in CDYL2-knockout models to confirm specificity. Commercial CDYL2 antibodies are often generated using immunogens derived from conserved regions of the human protein. However, cross-reactivity with CDYL1 or other family members must be ruled out during experimental design. Its applications extend to developmental biology, cancer research, and studies of chromatin dynamics.
