ZDHHC3 antibody is a research tool designed to detect and study the ZDHHC3 protein, a member of the DHHC (Asp-His-His-Cys) family of palmitoyltransferases. These enzymes catalyze protein palmitoylation, a post-translational modification critical for membrane anchoring, protein trafficking, and cellular signaling. ZDHHC3. encoded by the ZDHHC3 gene in humans, is primarily localized in the Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum. It plays key roles in neuronal function, synaptic plasticity, and intracellular transport by palmitoylating substrate proteins such as SNAP-25. PSD-95. and certain G-protein-coupled receptors.

Research using ZDHHC3 antibodies has linked this enzyme to neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease and Huntington’s disease, where aberrant palmitoylation contributes to pathological protein aggregation. It is also implicated in cancer progression through modulation of oncogenic signaling pathways. The antibody enables detection of ZDHHC3 expression levels, subcellular localization, and interactions via techniques like Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation. Validation typically involves knockout controls to confirm specificity.
