**Background of SFRP5 Antibody**

Secreted frizzled-related protein 5 (SFRP5) is a member of the SFRP family, which acts as a soluble modulator of Wnt signaling by binding to Wnt proteins or frizzled receptors, thereby inhibiting canonical and non-canonical Wnt pathways. SFRP5 is predominantly expressed in adipose tissue and plays a role in metabolic regulation, inflammation, and cellular differentiation. Dysregulation of SFRP5 has been implicated in diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cancer, where its tumor-suppressive function is often silenced via promoter hypermethylation.

SFRP5 antibodies are tools designed to detect, quantify, or neutralize SFRP5 protein in experimental and clinical settings. In research, these antibodies are used to study SFRP5's expression patterns, interaction with Wnt ligands, and its role in pathways linked to carcinogenesis or metabolic disorders. For instance, reduced SFRP5 levels in tumors (e.g., gastric, colorectal cancers) correlate with Wnt hyperactivation, promoting proliferation and metastasis.
