生长分化因子15（GDF-15），亦称巨噬细胞抑制因子1（MIC-1）。在单核细胞中，MIC-1 mRNA的表达受到多种激活相关刺激因子的上调，包括白细胞介素1β、肿瘤坏死因子α（TNF-α）、白细胞介素2和巨噬细胞集落刺激因子，但干扰素γ或脂多糖（LPS）无此作用。该因子在正常及病理状态下均高表达于心肌细胞、脂肪细胞、巨噬细胞、内皮细胞和血管平滑肌细胞。组织损伤和炎症状态时GDF-15水平升高，且与心血管代谢风险相关。糖尿病患者的GDF-15水平升高与心肌肥厚、心力衰竭、动脉粥样硬化、内皮功能障碍、肥胖、胰岛素抵抗、糖尿病及慢性肾脏病等心血管疾病密切相关。GDF-15水平的升高与疾病进展及预后存在显著关联。
