This protein carries a polyhistidine tag at the N-terminus.
The protein has a calculated MW of 17.3 kDa. The protein migrates as 20-25 kDa when calibrated against Star Ribbon Pre-stained Protein Marker under reducing (R) condition (SDS-PAGE) due to glycosylation.

IL-31是一种炎症性细胞因子，能协助启动针对病原体的细胞免疫应答。它通过由IL31RA和OSMR组成的IL-31异二聚体受体，激活STAT3信号通路，并可能激活STAT1与STAT5。该细胞因子已被确认为多种慢性炎症性疾病（包括特应性皮炎）的关键致病因子，可能在皮肤免疫中发挥功能。IL-31由多种细胞产生，主要为2型辅助性T细胞（TH2）。IL-31通过免疫细胞和上皮细胞中表达的IL-31RA与抑瘤素M受体β（OSMRβ）构成的受体复合物传递信号，这些信号会激活三条通路：ERK1/2 MAP激酶通路、PI3K/AKT通路以及JAK1/2信号通路。
