PEP2M is a peptide inhibitor targeting the interaction between the C-terminus of the GluA2 (AMPA receptor) subunit and NSF (N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive fusion protein, a protein that regulates AMPA receptor function). Composed of a 10-amino-acid linear polypeptide, it reduces synaptic currents in CA1 neurons, AMPA-mediated currents in cultured hippocampal neurons, and surface expression of AMPA receptors.
