Batoclimab is a fully human monoclonal antibody designed as a high-affinity antagonist of the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). It functions by competitively binding to FcRn at the acidic pH of the endosome, thereby blocking the recycling of IgG antibodies (including pathogenic autoantibodies) and accelerating their lysosomal degradation. This leads to a rapid and sustained reduction in circulating levels of all IgG subtypes. It is in clinical development for the treatment of various IgG-driven autoimmune diseases, including myasthenia gravis, thyroid eye disease, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and warm autoimmune hemolytic anemia (wAIHA).
