Ontamalimab (also known as SHP‑647 or PF‑00547659) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal antibody that targets mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule‑1 (MAdCAM‑1), a cell‑surface glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells in the gut‑associated lymphoid tissue. By binding to MAdCAM‑1, ontamalimab blocks its interaction with the integrin α4β7 on lymphocytes, thereby inhibiting the recruitment of inflammatory immune cells (particularly T cells) to the intestinal mucosa.
