Crizanlizumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody approved for the prevention of vaso-occlusive crises (VOCs, or pain crises) in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD). Marketed under the brand name Adakveo®, it represents a novel therapeutic approach that targets a key pathway involved in the multicellular adhesion events that initiate vaso-occlusion. It is indicated for patients aged 16 years and older and is administered via intravenous infusion, typically on a monthly basis after an initial loading phase.
