Ezabenlimab (development code BI-754091) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal antibody developed for cancer immunotherapy. It functions as a programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) checkpoint inhibitor. By binding with high affinity to the PD-1 receptor on the surface of T cells, ezabenlimab blocks its interaction with its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, which are commonly expressed on tumor cells and immune cells within the tumor microenvironment. This blockade releases the inhibitory "brake" on T-cell activation and function, thereby restoring and enhancing the T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immune response, leading to tumor cell killing.
