Frunevetmab is a monoclonal antibody specifically developed for veterinary medicine and is approved for the control of osteoarthritis (OA) pain in cats. It represents the first and only therapeutic of its class for feline OA. Frunevetmab functions as a feline-specific nerve growth factor (NGF) inhibitor. It is a felinized monoclonal antibody, meaning it is engineered from a feline framework to minimize immunogenicity in cats. By binding to and neutralizing feline NGF, it prevents NGF from interacting with its receptors (TrkA and p75) on sensory neurons.
