Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a 33-amino-acid peptide with multiple molecular forms and dual distribution as a brain-gut hormone, primarily functioning as a neurotransmitter. Sincalide, an eight-amino-acid fragment of CCK, retains all the biological activities of CCK. Drugs primarily containing Sincalide can alleviate pulmonary interstitial edema and leukocyte infiltration, inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, restore heart rate, and reduce pulmonary hypertension.
