Mca-SEVNLDAEFK (Dnp)-NH2 contains a highly fluorescent 7-methoxycoumarin group, which is effectively quenched through resonance energy transfer to the 2,4-dinitrophenyl group. The sequence includes 10 amino acids. Mca-SEVNLDAEFK (Dnp)-NH2 can be used to measure the activity of peptidases capable of cleaving the amide bond between the fluorescent and quenching groups, resulting in increased fluorescence, such as for detecting BACE-1 activity.
