11.2 Additional Information
RTECS: CY1576350
Nausea, Vomiting, Dizziness, Aspiration or inhalation may cause chemical pneu- monitis., MTBE (methyl-tert-butyl ether) is reported to metabolize to tert-butyl al- cohol and formaldehyde by microsomal demethylation, In another unpublished study MTBE was shown to be carcinogenic due to "increased incidence of a rare type of kidney tumor" in male rats and an "increase in the incidence of hepatocellu- lar adenomas" in female mice.
To the best of our knowledge, the chemical, physical, and toxicological properties have not been thoroughly investigated.
