The general procedure for the synthesis of 4-hydroxypiperidine hydrochloride from N-Boc-4-hydroxypiperidine was as follows: tert-butyl 4-hydroxypiperidine-1-carboxylate (5 g, 24.84 mmol, 1.00 eq.) was mixed with a saturated HCl solution dissolved in 30 mL of 1,4-dioxane, and the reaction was stirred for 2 h at room temperature. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was concentrated in vacuum to afford 4-hydroxypiperidine hydrochloride (3.4 g, 99% yield) as an off-white solid. | [References]
