Chemical Properties

This product is pure white crystal, mp148.5～149.5℃, insoluble in aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene, soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, chloroform and dimethylformamide.

Uses

N-t-butyl-n'-isopropylthiourea, referred to as thiourea, is an intermediate of the insecticide thiazide.

Synthesis

N-t-butyl-n'-isopropylthiourea is prepared by reacting tert-butyl isothiocyanate with isopropylamine.
