Uses
Trimethylsulfoxonium bromide is an intermediate compound that can be used as a bactericidal thiazole derivative. It can be used in the production of methylcobalamin and in the preparation of novel metconazoles. Mecobalamin is the activated form of vitamin B12, which helps treat vitamin B12 deficiency by producing a substance called myelin.
Synthesis
Trimethyl sulfoxide bromide can be prepared by chemical reaction of dimethyl sulfoxide with methyl bromide.
