Chemical Properties
Yellowish brown powder. Insoluble in water, brownish yellow when dissolved in sodium sulfide solution. Partially soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, yellow precipitate when diluted. Slightly discolored in alkaline insurance powder solution, all discoloration in sodium hypochlorite, turns dark orange in concentrated sulfuric acid.
Uses
Sulphur yellow 2 is mainly used for dyeing cotton, linen, viscose fibers, and vinylon, and also for leather coloring. It can be used for color mixing, producing shades such as grass green, beige, ginger yellow, yellowish brown, dark brown, dark green, and dark gray.
