Sulphur Brown 4 Chemical Properties, Uses, Production

Uses

Sulphur Brown 4 is mainly used for dyeing cotton, linen, viscose fibers and their fabrics, and also for dyeing vinylon and vinylon-cotton blends. It has poor leveling properties. It is also used for blending dark coffee color.

Preparation

coarse Cresol or m-Cresol and Sodium polysulfide in 270 ~ 275 ℃ calcination, add or do not add Copper sulfate monohydrate all can.

Properties and Applications

brown light olive to yellow brown. Brown hydroscopicity powder. There are dark brown in hydrochloric acid precipitation; In concentrated Sodium hydroxide solution for blue light green. Used for cotton, hemp, viscose and vinylon/cotton blended fabric dyeing, and sometimes also used in leather dyeing.
