Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 is a white to cream coloured powder. The active ingredient is used to treat lachrymal sacs and dark circles under the eyes. It stimulates cell metabolism, improves skin elasticity, reduces puffiness and water retention in the eye area and makes the skin supple.

Acetyl tetrapeptide-5 inhibits collagen glycation avoiding skin losing elasticity and subsequent eyebags formation .

The molecular weight of acetyltetrapeptide-5 is 492.5 and the amino acid sequence is Ac- βAla-His-Ser-His-OH, the molecular formula is C20H28N8O7. The influence of saccharification in the body and the increase of ocular vascular osmotic pressure will make the eye skin form dark circles and edema. Some studies have proved that acetyltetrapeptide-5 can reduce edema by changing the microcirculation of regional skin and the osmotic pressure of liquid, so as to effectively eliminate edema, eye bags and dark circles.

Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5 is a synthetic peptide that has calming, smoothing, hydrating, and firmness-enhancing benefits when applied to skin. Its calming properties are believed to reduce undereye puffiness due to fluid accumulation, such as from allergies (which is not the same as undereye bags that occur from fat pads beneath the skin slipping out of place).
