White crystalline solid. mp210～211.5℃, relative density 1.49 (20℃), vapor pressure 4×10-13Pa (25℃), partition coefficient 0.9778, solubility in water (20℃): 100mg/L (pH =5.0), 700mg/L (pH=7.0), 5600mg/L (pH=9.0). Industrial products mp219～220℃.
Uses
Metosulam is a novel and efficient triazolopyrimidine sulfonamide herbicide, acetolactase (ALS enzyme) inhibitor.It can be used to control a variety of broadleaf weeds in cereals and corn fields, and the dosage per hectare is 15g of active ingredients.

Selective, absorbed by roots and shoots. Inhibits plant amino acid synthesis - acetohydroxyacid synthase AHAS.
Synthesis
Metosulam can be obtained by reacting N-(2,6-dichloro-3-methylphenyl)-5,7-dichloro-1,2,4-triazol[1,5-α]pyrimidine-2-sulfonic Amide and sodium methoxide under the action of methanol and hydrochloric acid.
