Chlorotriethylsilane is a readily sol most aprotic organic solvents, although CH2Cl2 is most commonly used; reacts with H2O and other protic solvents. It should be handled and stored under an anhydrous, inert atmosphere.

Chlorotriethylsilane is used in the preparation of potent silylating agent and lewis acid catalyst. Chlorotriethylsilane derivatived ethers have been shown to be more stable towards hydrolysis than ar
e trimethyl ethers.
일반 설명
Chlorotriethylsilane may be used as a silylating reagent for the preparation of trisilyl ethers from alcohols in the presence of a base such as imidazole, pyridine or 4-(dimethylamino)pyridine. It is found to be more reactive when used with pyridine as a solvent.
