Description

Oxipurinol is the active metabolite of allopurinol , an inhibitor of xanthine oxidoreductase. Compared to allopurinol, oxipurinol has lower oral bioavailability but longer half-life in plasma due to renal reabsorption. Like allopurinol, oxipurinol has applications in gout and hyperuricemia as well as various ischemic and inflammatory diseases in animals and clinical trials.
