| | Kieselguhr Usage And Synthesis |
| Description | Kieselguhr was formed from the silicic acid‐containing skeletons of microscopically small water plants, deposited on the floor of oceans and seas several hundred thousand years ago. Due to its extremely porous structure and large internal surface, kieselguhr is highly suitable for various filtration purposes. Visually, the fine product types can be identified by the pink colour, whilst medium‐fine and coarser types are white in colour. | | Uses | Kieselgur can also be used as an absorbent for spills and leaks. Its highly porous structure enables it to quickly soak up liquids, making it ideal for use in oil spill cleanups or for absorbing leaked chemicals. In addition, kieselgur can be used in blasting cabinets and sandblasting machines to remove paint, rust, and other materials from surfaces. It can also be used as a polishing agent for metals and glass. |
