| Synthesis |
8.5 g of Raney nickel powder was added to 20 mL of a methanol solution (21.8 mmol) of ether dinitrile (20 mL), followed by the addition of 46.5 mmol of NaBH4 and 40 mL of an 8 M NaOH aqueous solution. The resulting reaction mixture was stirred for 2.5 h, maintaining the reaction temperature in a water bath between 15 and 25 °C. H2 bubbles were generated during stirring. The reaction was stopped 5 min after the bubbling ceased, and the catalyst was filtered. The reaction mixture was washed with MeOH (50 mL × 2), and the washes were combined with the mother liquor. The mixture was concentrated under vacuum, and solid KOH (19 g) was added to the residue. The diamine product salted out as a pale yellow oil. The crude product was separated and purified by vacuum distillation to obtain the target product molecule, 4,7,10-TRIOXA-1,13-TRIDECANEDIAMINE. | | Chemical Properties | clear colorless to light yellow liquid | | Uses | 3,3’-[Oxybis(2,1-ethanediyloxy)]bis[1-propanamine] is a passivation ligand used to enhance the water solubility and luminescence of carbon dots. | | General Description | 4,7,10-Trioxa-1,13-tridecanediamine can be used as a surface passivation agent for the synthesis of photoluminescent carbon nanodots for semiconductor applications. | | Flammability and Explosibility | Non flammable | | IC 50 | PEGs |
