3,6-Dibromo-phenanthrenequinone Usage And Synthesis
Uses 3,6-Dibromo-phenanthrenequinone is an organic compound containing a phenanthrenequinone skeleton, and its molecule contains two bromine atoms. Due to the presence of bromine atoms, 3,6-dibromophenanthrenequinone has a higher electron density and better reactivity, making it have a high application value in organic synthesis. In addition, it is widely used in the preparation of organic electronic devices, solar cells, and optoelectronic materials.

3,6-Dibromo-phenanthrenequinone

53348-05-3

The general procedure for the synthesis of 3,6-dibromo-9,10-phenanthrenequinone from 9,10-phenanthrenequinone was as follows: 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (50 g), benzoyl peroxide (2.5 g), and nitrobenzene (250 mL) were added to a nitrogen-displaced reaction vessel and aerated with nitrogen. Subsequently, bromine (83 g) was added and the mixture was heated to reflux and stirred for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and ethanol (250 mL) was added to precipitate the product. The precipitated solid was collected by filtration, washed with ethanol and finally dried under vacuum to give 3,6-dibromo-9,10-phenanthrenequinone as a yellow solid in 70% yield.
