3,6-Dibromo-phenanthrenequinone is an organic compound containing a phenanthrenequinone skeleton, and its molecule contains two bromine atoms. Due to the presence of bromine atoms, 3,6-dibromophenanthrenequinone has a higher electron density and better reactivity, making it have a high application value in organic synthesis. In addition, it is widely used in the preparation of organic electronic devices, solar cells, and optoelectronic materials.
| | Synthesis | The general procedure for the synthesis of 3,6-dibromo-9,10-phenanthrenequinone from 9,10-phenanthrenequinone was as follows: 9,10-phenanthrenequinone (50 g), benzoyl peroxide (2.5 g), and nitrobenzene (250 mL) were added to a nitrogen-displaced reaction vessel and aerated with nitrogen. Subsequently, bromine (83 g) was added and the mixture was heated to reflux and stirred for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was allowed to cool to room temperature and ethanol (250 mL) was added to precipitate the product.
