| Synthesis | Sulfoxide chloride (8.8 g, 75.1 mmol) was slowly added dropwise to methanol (50 mL) at 0 °C, followed by a one-time addition of 1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic acid (5.0 g, 49.8 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 1 to 3 hours.
