| Synthesis | N-(2-methyl-4-aminosulfonylphenyl)acetamide (5.1 g, 22.3 mmol) was used as a raw material, which was mixed with 2N hydrochloric acid (76.5 ml) and ethanol (100 ml) and the reaction was carried out at reflux overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was neutralized with aqueous sodium carbonate to pH=8. Subsequently, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (80 mL x 4), the organic phases were combined and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate.
