| | (+)-Sophoridine Usage And Synthesis |
| Description | One of a number of minor alkaloids isolated from Leontice albertii Rgl., this
base crystallizes from petroleum ether as colourless prisms. It is dextrorotatory
having a specific rotation of [α]D + 59.3° (c 1.3, EtOH) and yields a crystalline
methiodide, m.p. 249°C. The structure has been assigned on the basis of chemical
analysis and spectroscopic determinations. | | Chemical Properties | It is easily soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, carbon tetrachloride, etc. It is derived from the aerial parts of the leguminous plant Sophora alopecuroides L. | | Uses | (+)-Sophoridine acts as an anti-inflammatory agent in vitro and in vivo. Anticancer agent, with a promising anti-tumor effect and lower toxicity. | | in vivo | Sophoridine (intraperitoneal injection; 20 or 40 mg/kg; 21 days) can inhibit the growth of xenograft pancreatic tumors[1]. | | References | Kamalitdinov, Iskandarov, Yunusov, Khim.
