SynthesisThis is an impurity formed during the synthesis of Fluticasone Propionate. Its formation involves key steps: oxidative cleavage of the C-17 hydroxymethyl group in flumetasone, activation of the resulting acid and reaction with HS to give a thiocarboxylic acid, esterification of the C-17 hydroxyl, and S-alkylation of the thiocarboxylic acid with bromochloromethane.
